STANDARDS FOR SATISFACTORY PROGRESS

CAU complies with federal guidelines and Institutional standards for monitoring student academic progress towards degree completion. In addition, federal regulations require the establishment and application of reasonable Standards of Satisfactory Progress. Students are required to maintain a grade point average of 2.25 for undergraduate programs and 3.25 for the Ph.D. and Psy.D. Clinical Programs or 3.0 for all other graduate programs throughout the course of their academic experience in the Institution. Furthermore, students must maintain a course completion rate of no less than 66% of the credits enrolled. As part of the standard, students have a maximum time frame to complete their degree program as follows:

Ph.D. in General Psychology and Industrial/Organizational
Psychology degrees have a maximum time of 5 years to complete the degree.

Federal Financial Aid program regulations determine the maximum length of time for which federal financial aid is provided to a student to complete a degree.

Students whose academic progress does not fulfill the requirements mentioned above will be placed on probation for a period of one term. At the end of this period, if the student does not improve the particular academic deficiencies, a second probationary period will be granted.

If after the second probationary period the student has not overcome the academic deficiency, his/her academic status will be changed to academic dismissal.
