SCHOLARSHIPS

Scholarships for Disadvantaged Students (SDS) - The SDS program provides funds for the purpose of assisting clinical psychology doctoral students that come from disadvantaged backgrounds and does not require repayment. This scholarship is funded by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). Funds are awarded each academic year.

Eligibility:
a.        citizens or eligible non-citizen;
b.        enrolled full-time in the clinical psychology doctoral programs;
c.        meets SDS criteria;
d.        demonstrate need;
e.        Maintain satisfactory progress.

Applications must be requested at the Financial Aid Office.

Jorge Caņas Scholarship - The San Juan Campus awards these scholarships to assist students with tuition costs. Refer to the Financial Aid Handbook for eligibility and qualification criteria.

Presidential Scholarships - The Presidential Scholarships are awarded based on, but not limited to, the following criteria: financial hardship, prior/current contributions of the applicant to Institutional development, specific physical disabilities, ethnic under representation within the profession of psychology, student representation in international professional associations and organizations, civic record of the applicant, etc. Presidential scholarships are awarded based on the sole discretion of the President of Carlos Albizu University.

Student Assistantships - Assistantships equivalent to a pre-determined number of credits (may vary per session). The student will be authorized to work on campus for a certain number of hours per week in activities related to administration, research or clinical services. Students will be paid according to an established schedule. Assistantships must be renewed each session.

Teaching Assistantships - Teaching Assistants assist in teaching courses at the undergraduate and master level under faculty supervision. A stipend is awarded for each course taught. Application forms are available for qualified students through the corresponding program office.

State Funds - Educational Supplemental Scholarships - SJC students are eligible to apply for scholarships given by the Council of Higher Education. Funds are allotted each year to the Institution by the government to be distributed among a limited number of eligible students. Deadlines and guidelines for application to these programs are available from the Financial Aid Office and posted in the bulletin boards.
