COMPUTER LABS
Frequent workshops are conducted for faculty and staff. The topics of these sessions range from Online Course Design, Word Processing and HTML page conversion, Designing Effective Power Point Presentations and E-Mail usage. Students may also use designated computers in the library, and classes sometimes use computers in the classroom lab. Computer policy rules apply to all computer use at Carlos Albizu University.

To aid in this process a Laboratory Coordinator is in charge of coordinating workshops, tutorials and scheduling the usage of these facilities. The MIS Director collaborates as an expert in Education Technology to develop teaching strategies that have an impact on how teaching / learning is enhanced using new innovative technologies.

GENERAL LAB
The general lab (room C-1), made possible by a Title V grant (PO 31S000075), gives students the opportunity to use computers and printers on a drop-in basis. While technical assistance is available, students must already know how to use equipment; this lab is not an instructional center. Students who want to learn to use computers should avail themselves of the many courses that are devoted to or include instruction in computer skills. Use of the lab requires a Carlos Albizu University ID and an appropriate data disk. Monday through Saturday hours are posted on the door in the lab each semester. Twenty (20) Optiplex (Pentium IV, 2.00 GHz, 256 MB RAM, 20 GB HD), one (1)-HP and one (1)-Lexmark Network Laser Printers are available. All computers have the necessary educational software available for student use.

CLASSROOM LAB
Faculty can reserve the classroom lab (room C-2) for occasional use by submitting the appropriate form or calling (787) 725-6500 ext. 1408. The Classroom Lab contains 15 iPaq computers (Pentium III, 500 MHz, 8GB HD Compaq). An Infocus video projector can project material from the teacher's computer station on to a large screen. This can be modeled for the entire class. Each computer has Microsoft Office XP Professional, SPSS 10.1 and other software programs available. A document projector is an integral part of this laboratory.

LECTURE HALLS
All classrooms are equipped with a video projector and have access to Internet. Notebook computers are loaned to students and faculty to enhance classroom activities.
